Is White Boring?

We were discussing this very topic recently and we were unanimous in our decision that no, white is definitely not boring. As designers, we often use the backdrop of white or varying shades of white on interior walls in our design.
When the walls are white it allows the fabrics and decor to be the focal point. Two of our favorite white paints to use are Benjamin Moore color's Navajo White and Elephant Tusk.
We absolutely adore the look of white cabinets in a kitchen. When we were designing this kitchen for a client, we used the white cabinetry to contrast the granite counter tops and chocolate checked fabric on both the window treatments and window seats. The clients were thrilled that the kitchen was a light and bright sanctuary in the home.
We love to use the background of white in a room and then add unexpected punches of color using fabrics, furniture, and decor.
The whimsy of this kitchen eating area is the center of attention, with the colorful rug below and vivid kitchenware on top of the table in contrast to the calm backdrop of the crisp white walls and light drapery.
There is so much to love about this room that it is hard to know where to start. We all agree that the painted white walls and white moulding add a gorgeous backdrop for both the furniture and the decor.
Would this room be as gorgeous if the walls were painted any other color but white? We don't think so.
The use of the varying layers of whites makes this room so inviting. By hanging a white chandelier in the room, the lighting blends into the decor instead of being a focal point. And we love the throw at the end of the bed.
The use of calm whites in these bathrooms makes you feel like you are entering a spa. All we need is a good masseuse and we're ready to go.
Whether or not this bedroom is in a beach house somewhere, it certainly makes you feel like it is.
We love the contrast between the stark white on the walls and ceiling and the subtle use of color in the poster bed and nightstand.
Still think white is boring? We can win this debate once and for all. We dare you to say this is boring:
